Agile and waterfall are the two project methodologies that will be compared.
XYZ Hypermarket is presently in need of an integrated system that will enable the headquarters to manage the operations and supervise whenever required. As the group of companies is expanding and is likely to have more branches, we need a flexible project management methodology. Waterfall methodology follows a rigid and systematic approach to manage projects while agile is flexible.
As the group expands, waterfall methodology can get a little expensive but agile methodology is cost effective (Muslihat, 2018). Waterfall is non-adaptive and needs a project plan for every change to be made but this is not the case with agile and there is negligible waste in it. As there are also uncertainties involved in the development of the system and the business model on the whole, it is important to choose a methodology that is simple, quick, supportive, collaborative and adaptable. All these characteristics are visible in agile model and not in waterfall model and hence, we shall suggest agile model for XYZ Hypermarket.
